Rock augering & piling for tight access & tough ground

At Statham Group, we provide advanced rock augering and piling services through our specialist division, Tomac, servicing the Gold Coast and surrounding regions.

Our piling rig is designed specifically for tight access and challenging sites — offering the same power and capability you’d expect from a much larger machine, but with a small footprint that can reach areas other rigs can’t.

We can install bored piles to depths of up to 13 metres and diameters of up to 750mm, efficiently augering through a mix of tough ground profiles common across SEQ.

Our precision-controlled piling rig delivers clean, accurate bores through rock and hard ground — without the mess or delays of over-excavation — keeping your project on track from day one.

Strong Foundations in Hard-to-Reach Places

Good ground preparation is critical for lasting structural performance — and on tight, sloped, or rocky sites, bored piling is often the best solution.

Our compact piling rig allows us to deliver the capabilities of a large auger rig, but without the access or space limitations — making it ideal for:

  • Retaining walls (tight boundary lines, engineered walls, backyards)
  • Structural piers and deep footings
  • Power and utility poles
  • Fencing and signage posts
  • Slope stabilisation and anchoring
  • Temporary works and ground anchors

We work with builders, developers, engineers, and property owners, providing efficient rock augering and pilingservices for both residential and commercial projects.

Our team understands how to adapt piling methods to match your site conditions and engineered requirements — ensuring solid, reliable foundations even in Queensland’s toughest ground.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Statham Group insured and licensed?

Most residential and commercial drilling jobs involve sandstone, granite, shale or compacted clay—all of which can be handled using industrial-grade augers and specialised drill heads. The specific drill type is chosen based on ground conditions, with flexibility to adapt on-site if mixed materials are encountered.

  • Can you install piles for pool builds or house extensions?

  • Do you work directly with homeowners?

Yes. We work with both industry professionals and private property owners. If you’re not sure where to start, we’re happy to talk you through what’s needed to get your project underway.

  • Do I need engineering before booking your services?

In most cases, yes — especially for structural or load-bearing work. We’re happy to liaise directly with your engineer or recommend one if needed. We drill to your project’s specifications to ensure compliance and long-term performance.
